State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye, through a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer ASP William Aya, emphasized that the proposed rally violates the state government’s directive issued on March 31, prohibiting all forms of political gatherings.

The police warned that intelligence reports suggest hoodlums may exploit the event to incite violence, jeopardizing the peace currently enjoyed in the state.

“The command cannot afford to risk the existing stability,” the statement read, stressing that anyone found disrupting public order would face the full force of the law.

Despite the ban, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has insisted on proceeding with her visit, clarifying that her trip is purely for celebrating Eid al-Fitr with her constituents, not for political reasons.
