Troops Rescue 4 Kidnap Victims in Taraba

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued four kidnapped victims in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, reinforcing their commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.

In a statement released on Friday, April 4, 2025, by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the rescue operation was carried out under the ongoing military campaign Operation Lafiyan Jammaa. The victims, who were found unharmed, have since been reunited with their families.

According to the statement, the operation—conducted in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke—was launched in response to credible intelligence regarding a kidnapping in Kallong village.

Troops mobilized swiftly, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee. The army’s prompt and coordinated action ensured the safe recovery of all four victims.

Captain Oni also highlighted growing community support in areas like the Andamin community, where residents have noticed marked improvements in security.

During a solidarity visit, local youth leader Alhaji Adamu Abubakar commended the troops for their dedication and promised continued support.

As a gesture of appreciation, the youths pledged to install a borehole at the army camp within three days to assist in the welfare of the soldiers.

Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, praised the troops for their swift and professional conduct.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Taraba State and urged the public to continue providing reliable information to aid military operations.

The Nigerian Army continues to call on citizens to support efforts to combat banditry and restore lasting peace throughout the region.
