Indiana Bar Bouncers Brutally Beat Man Over Unpaid Tab
Two Indiana bar security guards have been charged with felony battery after a violent and disturbing altercation was caught on camera at Chaser’s Bar & Grill in Evansville.
The video, which has since gone viral, allegedly shows bouncers Sean Shell and Johnathon Turner brutally attacking patron Shane Hendrix—punching, kicking, and dragging him across the bar floor.
The incident reportedly began after Hendrix got into a dispute with a bartender over an unpaid tab.
According to Evansville police, the bouncers skipped any attempt at a peaceful ejection and launched straight into a physical assault.
At the time of the incident, an off-duty Evansville police officer working security at the bar was outside assisting someone else. When he later noticed Hendrix outside, visibly bloodied and injured, he immediately initiated an investigation.
The bartender told police that Hendrix became aggressive after being confronted about the unpaid tab—approximately $60—allegedly threatening and lunging at her.
Following the attack, Hendrix was hospitalized with serious injuries, including six facial fractures, a broken nose, a missing tooth, another damaged tooth, and severe bruising on his back.
Both Shell and Turner were arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. Turner was released on a $10,000 bond after a court appearance on Monday. The case remains under investigation.
