You have no right to complain about Wikes action, manage the problem you created — PDP blasts APC

AdminBy AdminJanuary 7, 2026Updated:January 7, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed complaints by the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the conduct of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, saying the ruling party must face the consequences of its choices in Rivers State.

The PDP said the APC has no moral right to protest Wike’s actions, stressing that he is no longer a member of the opposition party.

PDP distances itself from Wike

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said Wike was expelled from the party alongside his supporters.

He accused the APC of knowingly embracing Wike for political advantage and now expressing discomfort because the alliance has become inconvenient.

Ememobong was reacting to the public exchange between Wike and APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, over political developments in Rivers State.

“The National Secretary of the APC may genuinely not know who is or is not a member of the PDP, and may therefore be relying on outdated information suggesting that Wike was a PDP member,” he said.

“Wike was expelled from the PDP, along with his supporters, and that is why we sympathise with the problem the APC has brought upon itself by engaging Wike; someone they now lack the moral or legal standing to disown.”

APC must manage its choices

The PDP spokesman said the APC could not benefit from an arrangement and later complain when it turns problematic.

“The law does not allow you to benefit from a wrong you created, nor can you complain of a voluntary injury. You cannot complain about an act you willingly undertook,” he stated.

“So they should manage the situation they have created. After all, what was once seen as an asset has now become a liability, and they must deal with it.”

Ememobong rejected attempts to link the PDP to the controversy, saying the behaviour now criticised was previously celebrated when it served APC interests.

Warning against hypocrisy

“As for his comments, he should not drag the PDP into this. It is the same conduct he is now complaining about,” Ememobong said.

“When he was engaging in this conduct in a way that favoured the APC, they were jubilating and laughing. This same National Secretary did not complain even once.”

He added that political issues should be judged beyond party loyalty.

“When something is wrong, it is wrong,” he said.

“As a citizen, and as the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, if someone engages in anti-party activity or aligns with another party, I will call that person out.”

‘You enjoyed the gains, face the fallout’

Ememobong insisted that the APC alone benefited from Wike’s political actions and must now handle the consequences.

“What the APC is experiencing is a voluntary injury they inflicted on themselves, so they must manage him,” he said.

He warned that unchecked political alliances often backfire.

“This is what happens when you keep feeding a monster. One day, you become food in the belly of that monster,” Ememobong added.

“They forget that one day the monster may tire of the food being fed to it and ask instead, what would this person taste like?”
