The wife of popular Nigerian actor and comedian Victor Nwaogu, popularly known as Nkubi, has sparked outrage online after sharing a disturbing experience with a medical doctor.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Mrs Nkubi recounted a comment allegedly made by her doctor during a routine pregnancy scan.

Her revelation has since triggered heated debates about discrimination and the treatment of people with dwarfism in Nigeria.

“Why didn’t you get pregnant outside?”

Speaking in the video, Mrs Nkubi said: “When I did my scan and handed it to the doctor, the doctor was like, does anyone has a threat of dwarfism in your family?”

“I said yes, it was my husband, the doctor said why didn’t you go to your brother-in-law or go outside to get pregnant instead of getting pregnant for you husband, or even get a sperm donor.”

She expressed shock at the suggestion, adding: “That is what a doctor told me, dwarfs are not given equal right in this country at all.”

Her statement has since drawn sympathy from many Nigerians who described the doctor’s alleged remarks as unprofessional and discriminatory.

Public Reactions Pour In

The video quickly gained traction online, with social media users sharing mixed reactions.

Nathaniel wrote: “My husband is the best, but if you are a dwarf and you are poor, I pity for you oo, dont mind all she is saying, she wont stay.”

Winneralways condemned the doctor’s alleged comment, writing: “That’s a bad doctor get him arrested by all means.. he has already corrupt some ladies mind. Poison.”

Shebanyan criticised what he described as hypocrisy in society. He wrote: “For a supposedly religious country who preaches all humans are god’s creatures and are equal in the eyes of the lord. I have never seen hypocrites like Nigerians. Preaching what they don’t practice.”

Dear Universe added: “It’s shocking that anyone would suggest such things. This highlights how much work is still needed to ensure basic rights and dignity for people with dwarfism.”

However, not everyone agreed. DatMorfan defended the doctor’s stance, writing: “He’s not far from the truth because am sure you paid for the advice (counseling) he didn’t do or say anything bad.”

“If not for low self esteem, why would someone with a birth defect get married to someone with the same birth defect and give birth to babies with more birth defects? That’s not just ignorance but wickedness.”

Eggcrown offered a counter view, stating: “No one should ever be made to feel that their marriage, body, or ability to have a family is less valid because of their condition.

“Equality means respecting their choices, their relationships, and their humanity, not suggesting ‘alternatives’ that ignore their rights.”
