A lady has expressed frustration after waking up to discover that heavy flooding had submerged the area surrounding her residence following a downpour.
The woman shared that the floodwater rose to knee level in parts of the compound, forcing residents to wade through the water.
She noted that her own apartment escaped being flooded only because her compound sits slightly higher than neighbouring properties.
She also lamented the condition of the neighbourhood, questioning how residents could pay millions of naira to live in an area repeatedly affected by flooding.
Lady recounts flooding experience
Sharing what she witnessed, the lady said, “Guys I woke up to see my compound like this. The water is so deep that it is reaching that lady on her knee.”
She added, “How can somebody pay N10m to be staying at a flooded place. If not that my compound is a little higher all these water would have come into my house. All the people on the street water entered their houses.”
Flood incident sparks reactions
Her post has since generated reactions on social media, with many users sympathising with residents affected by the flooding and expressing concern over recurring drainage and infrastructure challenges in some residential communities.
Others shared similar experiences from their neighbourhoods, while calling for improved drainage systems and better urban planning to reduce the impact of heavy rainfall on homes and surrounding communities.
