Arsenal move to tie Arteta down with long-term deal after title-winning season

Arsenal are pushing to secure Mikel Arteta’s long-term future at the club following a historic campaign that delivered their first Premier League title in 22 years.

The Gunners are reportedly preparing a new contract for the Spaniard after he guided the club to domestic glory and a run to the Champions League final, where they suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

According to reports, Arsenal’s hierarchy view Arteta as central to the club’s future plans and are keen to eliminate any uncertainty surrounding his position ahead of the new season.

Contract talks underway

Discussions over a new deal have already begun, with sporting director Andrea Berta and club executives involved in the process.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal and Arteta are currently in talks, with further meetings expected in the coming weeks as both parties work towards an agreement.

The North London club are understood to be eager to conclude negotiations before pre-season begins, allowing full focus to shift towards summer recruitment plans.

Club confident of agreement

Journalist Graeme Bailey reports that there is strong confidence within Arsenal that a new contract will be finalised before the start of the campaign.

“Sources have told us that they fully believe the new deal will be done before the start of the season, indeed the club would like this put to bed before pre-season begins,” Bailey said.

The report adds that Arsenal’s owners, executives, coaching staff and players remain united behind Arteta’s vision for the club.

Title success strengthens Arsenal project

The Premier League triumph is viewed as a major milestone in Arsenal’s rebuilding process under Arteta, who has transformed the club into domestic champions after several years outside the title race.

Despite disappointment in the Champions League final, club officials reportedly see the European campaign as further evidence that Arsenal are moving in the right direction.
