NBCUniversal has hired Christopher Halpin as its new chief financial officer.
Halpin will oversee the studio’s global finances and report to co-CEO Mike Cavanagh, the future CEO of NBCUniversal after Comcast separates its media and technology businesses. The exec starts on Sept. 8.
Randy Culbertson, currently CFO of NBCUniversal, will remain with the studio as he transitions to a new role to be announced in the coming weeks, the company also said on Thursday. Halpin most recently worked at People Inc., formerly known as IAC, where he served as executive vp, COO and CFO.
Cavanagh, currently co-CEO of Comcast, in a statement said: “Chris has spent his career helping build and grow leading businesses across sports, media and entertainment — the areas that will drive NBCUniversal’s growth in the years ahead. He brings deep industry experience, outstanding judgment and a collaborative approach that make him a trusted partner. NBCUniversal is anchored by its growing theme parks division, the Universal film and television studios, the NBC and Telemundo networks, streaming service Peacockandthe Bravo cable network.In addition, NBCUniversal’s portfolio will include Sky, itsEuropean media business.

Before People Inc., Halpin completed senior executive stints at the National Football League, most recently as executive vp, chief strategy & growth officer. Earlier, he was a partner and managing director at Providence Equity Partners, where he led transactions across the firm’s media, entertainment and technology investments. Halpin started his career at Goldman Sachs & Co.
