Tottenham agree deal to sign Marmoush from Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a loan deal to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer.

The Egypt international will become the second City player to move to Spurs this week after Brazilian winger Savinho completed his £75m switch to north London.

Marmoush joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s attack.

Marmoush seeks regular football at Spurs

The 27-year-old made 62 appearances for City in all competitions and scored 16 goals, including eight during the 2025-26 campaign.

However, his opportunities became increasingly limited last season as he competed with Erling Haaland for the central striking position.

Marmoush started only eight Premier League matches and played around 700 minutes, finishing the campaign with three league goals and three assists.

He was introduced from the bench during City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal before remaining an unused substitute in their opening Premier League victory over Bournemouth.

His move to Tottenham should provide greater opportunities for regular first-team football.

De Zerbi gets another attacking option

Marmoush’s ability to operate in several attacking positions could make him a useful addition to Roberto de Zerbi’s squad.

Although primarily a centre-forward, the Egyptian has also played as a second striker and from the left during his spells with Frankfurt and City.

That versatility could prove particularly valuable at Spurs, where Dominic Solanke has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months and Richarlison is entering the final year of his contract.

Marmoush’s arrival takes Tottenham’s spending this summer beyond £312m.

The club have already brought in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have joined as free agents.

The Egyptian will now have the opportunity to revive his form in north London after finding regular minutes difficult to secure at the Etihad Stadium.
