I raised a child she abandoned at 3 months, now she wants him back after 8 years – Lady cries out

A Nigerian lady has shared a heartbreaking story of how a friend allegedly abandoned her three-month-old baby with her family in 2018, only to return nearly eight years later demanding custody of the child.

According to the lady, her friend visited her home with the infant before leaving to “grab something,” but never returned.

After waiting for hours, she and her mother took the baby to the woman’s family house, hoping the child’s grandmother would take him in.

Narrating the ordeal, she said:

“She said she was coming back after getting something, but she never returned. We took the baby to her mother’s house, but she refused to accept him and told us to carry him back because she wasn’t interested in taking care of any child.”

With no one willing to care for the infant, the lady said she and her mother took full responsibility for raising the boy.

They bought baby food, clothes and diapers, cared for him through illness, enrolled him in school and eventually formed a strong bond with him.

“The baby is turning eight next month, and now his mother has returned, saying she wants to reunite with him. She even said she would go the extra mile to make sure he leaves us. I have been insulted, bullied and harassed because of this situation, and honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore,” she added.

The emotional story has sparked mixed reactions online. While many sympathised with the lady and praised her for raising the child, others argued that the biological mother also deserves an opportunity to reconnect with her son.

The incident has reignited conversations about parental responsibility, child welfare and whether biological ties should outweigh years of care and emotional bonding.
