I was burnt out after 300 productions – Ray Emodi clears air on quitting acting, apologises to fans

Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has shared a heartfelt explanation for his temporary decision to step away from acting, revealing that burnout and exhaustion forced him to take a break from the industry.

In a video message shared on YouTube, the actor said the decision was difficult while apologising to his fans, noting that he never expected to reach a point where he would pause his acting career.

He explained that years of nonstop work left him physically and mentally drained after taking part in more than 300 productions since 2017, including feature films, short films and television series.

“I acted since 2017 till last year ending. That’s about 300 productions… Eight years, no vacations, no rest. I was tired. If you do something too much, you get tired. I needed a break to find the love for acting again.”

Ray Emodi stressed that acting remains his passion, adding that he studied it professionally and holds a master’s degree in acting for film.

He admitted that his decision to focus fully on music was rushed and emotionally driven, saying he felt he had let his fans down with the announcement.

“I have high respect for acting… Waking up one day to say I’m not acting again felt like I swindled you guys. I’m sorry for playing with your emotions,” she added.

The actor added that his creative goal has always been to inspire people, not just earn money, and said he now intends to return to acting in moderation to avoid burnout.

It would be recalled that earlier this year, Ray Emodi announced his exit from the film industry, citing traumatic experiences on movie sets as he revealed plans to focus on his music career.
