To say Curry Barker‘s Obsession is a box office sensation would be the understatement of the year. In early June 2026, the 26-year-old filmmaker’s breakout horror crossed $200 million globally, making itFocus Features’ biggest movie of all time. Once Obsession surpassed $222 million, it officially became the top-grossing festival acquisition in history.
On June 30, while continuing its successful theatrical run, Obsession was released on Prime Video and Apple TV as a premium video-on-demand (PVOD) for digital purchase or rental. On Friday, July 17, the film will begin streaming on Peacock. Standard Peacock subscriptions start at $10.99 per month, and while the service doesn’t offer a free trial directly, deal-seekers can get two months of Peacock included with a subscription to DirecTV on top of its five-day free trial. Obsession will be available to stream on Peacock beginning Friday, July 17. While the NBCUniversal streaming service itself doesn’t offer a free trial, there is a little-known workaround through partner subscription DirecTV. Customers who sign up for one of DirecTV’s signature packages — Entertainment, Choice, Ultimate or Premier — can get two months of the Movies Extra Pack + Peacock at no cost (a $19.98 value).
Plus, DirecTV offers a five-day free trial for any plan, meaning newmembers can stream Obsession at absolutely no cost during that period. Simply select your preferred signature package, then opt to add “Movies Extra Pack + Peacock Premium” where it instructs you to pick your add-ons.
