NYSC issues fresh directive ahead of Batch B mobilisation

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned prospective corps members that they will not be mobilised for national service without obtaining clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD).

The scheme issued the warning as it intensified preparations for the mobilisation of another batch of prospective corps members, introducing stricter verification measures ahead of the 2026 Batch B service year.

In a notice shared on its official social media platforms, the NYSC stated that NERD clearance is now compulsory for all prospective corps members, urging eligible graduates to complete the process early to avoid delays.

According to the scheme, no prospective corps member will be mobilised without the required clearance, stressing that compliance is mandatory for every eligible graduate.

Although the NYSC did not explain how the NERD clearance process works, the directive signals a tighter verification system ahead of the next orientation exercise.

The warning comes shortly after the scheme announced the mobilisation of prospective corps members for the 2026 Batch B service year, urging institutions and graduates to complete all necessary documentation on time.

It also follows the NYSC’s recent safety advisory, which cautioned prospective corps members against travelling at night to orientation camps due to growing security concerns.

The scheme advised corps members to break long journeys where necessary and lodge in safe locations or designated military and security formations instead of travelling after dark.

With the latest directive, prospective corps members are expected to complete all required registration and verification procedures, including the newly emphasised NERD clearance, before reporting to their respective orientation camps.
