A lady has taken to social media to defend singer Peter Okoye amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Okoye family, urging social media commentator VeryDarkMan to allow the musician to speak.
In a viral video, the woman claimed she personally contacted Peter Okoye after allegedly falling victim to a $60,000 scam while she was pregnant.
According to her, she reached out to the singer in distress and asked him to intervene by contacting VeryDarkMan, who she claimed could assist her with the matter.
Woman recounts alleged $60,000 scam
The woman said she contacted Peter after she was allegedly scammed out of $60,000.
She claimed she was pregnant at the time and was emotionally distressed over the incident.
She said Peter agreed to speak with VeryDarkMan on her behalf after she pleaded with him to intervene.
The woman also claimed that she had records relating to the matter and intended to attach them to her video.
She further alleged that VeryDarkMan ignored Peter’s intervention despite the singer’s efforts to reach him.
She said: “Guys I’m going to attach the video right now, you see that Peter young guy that scammed me, I was the one that called Peter I was pregnant then this is my baby (she show the baby on the video) guys I was pregnant, I called Peter and was crying of how I was scammed $60,000 Peter said okay he’s going to talk to VeryDarkMan I begged him to talk to VeryDarkMan.”
The woman continued by alleging that Peter had previously shown support for VeryDarkMan when the social media personality was arrested.
She claimed Peter publicly appealed for VeryDarkMan’s release and questioned why the latter was now allegedly unwilling to give Peter an opportunity to explain himself.
“Only for VeryDarkMan to ignore Peter. Ah, that guy is wicked. Now Peter was one of the people when they arrested VeryDarkMan that used this platform. Guys, I mean Peter posted on his page for EFCC to free VeryDarkMan,” she said.
Calls for VeryDarkMan to allow Peter to speak
The woman accused VeryDarkMan of being unfair to Peter and urged him to listen to the singer’s side of the story.
She argued that Peter had previously used his platform to call for VeryDarkMan’s release when the social media activist was arrested.
“VeryDarkMan, ha na, not now that this man, is the first time this man is coming out to talk. Allow him to talk na,” she said.
She subsequently described VeryDarkMan as “wicked” while insisting that she would provide records to support her account.
The claims made in the viral video have not been independently verified.
The woman’s intervention comes amid renewed public attention on the long-running issues involving Peter Okoye and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, formerly of the music duo PSquare.
The brothers have continued to attract public attention over their disagreements, with family members and other public figures occasionally weighing in on the dispute.
Peter and Paul previously enjoyed considerable success as PSquare before their relationship deteriorated and the duo split.
Their separate careers and subsequent public disagreements have remained a subject of discussion among fans and social media users.
