Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, according to a statement released by her family and representatives on Tuesday.
Parton died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, after a career spanning seven decades. Her death was confirmed by her family, with tributes pouring in for one of the most influential figures in country music.

A statement from Parton’s public relations team described her as a global icon, humanitarian, singer, songwriter, actress, playwright and author.
The statement said Parton’s life and career made her an inspiration to several generations of musicians and fans.
It also recalled her late husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who died in 2025 after 59 years of marriage. Her parents, Avie Lee Caroline Owens and Robert Lee Parton Sr., also died before her.
“Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family,” the statement said.
Her representatives added that her legacy would live on through her music, philanthropy and commitment to improving the lives of others.
