A woman has shared how a routine DNA test nearly ended her marriage after doctors discovered that her twin boys had different biological fathers.
In a post shared on Instagram by @turbanbyaipearl, she revealed that she and her husband, Daniel, welcomed the twins after five years of infertility struggles and successful IVF treatment. Trouble started three years later when one of the boys underwent genetic testing for a hereditary blood disorder.
“The genetic specialist looked at us and said, ‘The twins does not share the same biological father.’ I felt like the air had vacuumed out of the room,” she recalled.
The result left her husband devastated. Convinced she had cheated, he walked out of their marriage despite her insisting he was the only man she had ever been with.
Determined to uncover the truth, the woman demanded records from the fertility clinic where the IVF procedure was carried out. She later discovered an internal mix-up after a junior embryologist allegedly leaked confidential documents.
According to the documents, one embryo belonged to the couple, while the second was mistakenly taken from another family during the IVF process.
She also claimed the clinic discovered the error months after the birth but allegedly altered records instead of admitting the mistake.
“My son Ethan was biologically mine and Daniel’s. Caleb was biologically the child of two strangers. Somewhere nearby, another little boy was genetically ours,” she added.
The couple later sued the fertility clinic alongside the other affected family. The woman said the clinic eventually shut down following the scandal.
The story has sparked emotional reactions online, with many describing it as heartbreaking and calling for stricter regulation of fertility clinics.
