They will say, Is she a man?' — Lady with hirsutism clarifies her real gender

A woman living with hirsutism has shared her experience of being judged because of her appearance, revealing that many people often mistake her for a man.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the woman said she has accepted her condition and refuses to let negative comments affect her confidence or happiness.

Says people often judge her because of facial hair

Speaking in the video, she explained that strangers frequently question her gender whenever they see her.

“Anytime people meet me, they will say, hey, is she a man or a woman? And you will see that I have a big breast. Even with all this, I don’t resemble a man.”

She added that many people stare at her or speak negatively about her, but she no longer pays attention to their opinions.

“I saw many people looking at me. Some people will be talking about me, anyhow they like. They look down on me, like I’m nothing. But me, I don’t care. I am me. Just want to look natural. That’s all.”

The woman said she has never felt ashamed of her condition and recalled how the facial hair first appeared.

“I don’t feel bad about this thing at all in my life. The first time I saw this hair, only one hair like this, only one here. And I have another one too here.”

She disclosed that hirsutism runs in her family but said her case is more pronounced than that of her relatives.

“We have this kind of thing in our family. They don’t have plenty. It’s only me who have it like this.”

Explains why she stopped shaving

The woman revealed that she deliberately stopped shaving her facial hair because she wanted to remain natural and different.

“The reason why I stopped shaving it, I just want to look different. I want to be like this so that you too, if you don’t have nothing to say in your house, if you see me at any place, you want to talk about something, you don’t have any topic. The two of you can raise my topic.”

She joked that discussing her appearance could even help people forget their personal problems.

“I met a lady at this place. Oh, she looks like this. Even when you are not fully happy, so far as you raise some topic about me, you can forget some of your problems.”

Recalling one of the most painful remarks she has received, she said someone once claimed that no man would ever approach her because of her appearance.

“The most painful thing that somebody has said to me before, me, the way I look, she didn’t think that even any man can approach me.”

Despite such comments, she said they never influenced her decision to shave or change herself.

“It doesn’t make me to shave. I asked myself, that person who is saying that, the person got to be judging me because this thing doesn’t change my lifestyle to be a good person or to be a bad person.”

She concluded by encouraging people with similar conditions not to allow public opinion to define them.

“Don’t mind anyone, you are on your own. If you said you listen to people, you can’t keep it. And it’s nothing wrong. We are not thieves, we don’t kill, we don’t do anything. We are like you people, so please accept us like this.”
