Popular comedian DeeOne has publicly criticised Afrobeat star Davido for failing to attend the wedding of music executive Soso Soberekon, questioning the singer’s relationship with one of his longtime industry associates.
Speaking in a video circulating online, the former BBNaija housemate claimed Davido had no reason to miss the ceremony, considering Soso Soberekon’s contributions to his career over the years. He further alleged that neither Davido nor any member of his team represented him at the event.
In his words, he said:
“With all the things Soso Soberekon has done for Davido, he was supposed to be the one arranging chairs at that wedding. Let’s even say you were busy, you couldn’t send a message or even post a tweet wishing him a happy married life.”
The comedian went on to accuse Davido of being envious of colleagues who become more successful, alleging that the singer prefers others to do well only as long as they do not surpass him.
He also claimed that Soso Soberekon played a significant role in connecting Davido with opportunities early in his career, insisting the singer should have honoured him by attending the wedding.
“He wants you to do well, but he doesn’t want anyone to be more successful than him. The wedding was still a success with private jets everywhere. Davido, adjust this character. Stop being envious and jealous of your colleagues. That was how he was close to Wizkid until Wizkid became better than him,” he added.
DeeOne’s comments come days after Soso Soberekon’s elaborate wedding ceremony in Warri, Delta State, which was attended by several celebrities and prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
As of the time of filing this report, Davido has not responded to DeeOne’s claims..
