Gerrard won’t have a free run at the job, either. Another ex-Liverpool player, Craig Bellamy, is also heavily in the frame.
Bellamy is currently managing the Wales national team but is highly appreciated at Turf Moor, having previously served as an assistant to Vincent Kompany at the club.
